Netgear Genie N300 WiFi USB adaptor

For some reason, my adaptor keeps disconnecting itself from the router, and I then have to uninstall and reinstall it from the CD.  I'm new to all of this..routers, discussion forums etc..so if anyone out there can tell me if there's a quick fix, I'd really appreciate it.  Thank you in advance.
