Very slow speeds with PC and Ntgar A7000

I have internet service speeds that should be around 200 Mbps, and sometimes exceed this.  I recently began to work from home,  I have a personal PC running Windows 10.  This was connected to internet by ethernet, which I gave up for the computer for work.

My personal PC is now connected to the WiFi by a Netgear A7000.  My download speeds are now 30-50 Mbps.  I did uninstall the software, and reinstall it, and the download speeds are horrible.

Windows autotuning is normal.

My laptop on my desk next to my PC has download speeds near 175 Mbps.  I disabled the laptop WiFi, installes the software for the Netgear A7000, and my download speed was 230 Mbps.  The location of the A7000 was the same for the PC and the laptop.  Both run Windows 10.

I am using a Netgear Nighthawk router, which is in the same room as the A7000.

The A7000 is connected to the PC on a USB connection with the PC.

I am connected to a 5 GHz band on the WiFi.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I paid a lot for this WiFi  USB Adapter.
Are there any settings in windows 10 that may be causing this slow speeds?

    "nighthawk router" isn't very specific.

Many models have smart connect. It does band steering between the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz band.

5ghz is much higher throughput than 2.4ghz.

Do you have one of these routers and is it connected to the 2.4ghz when its running slow?
