Wi-Fi Adapter suggestions?

I bought my pc back in November but the Wi-Fi adapter it came with constantly drops the signal and lags a bunch whenever I'm playing a game (even on low settings). Is there an adapter out there that someone suggests? Ideally would like to stay under $100

what pc and adapter do you currently have?

Are you wanting USB based or PCI? Or is it a laptop and can you replace the wireless card in it?

WiFi and games don't go well together.

As plemans suggests, an on-board wifi device could be better.

Another option could be Powerline Ethernet. It uses your mains circuit as a "pretend" wired Ethernet connection.
