wireless usb A6210

i am unable to get onto netgear genie on my gaming pc. downloaded the software and not to sure if it has installed. my son bought a gaming pc for his birthday and as it has no disc drive we have had to bring it down stairs and connect to internet using the Ethernet cable to download the driver soft wear and install it. but I keep hitting a brick wall and not sure if it has been downloaded. it really shouldn't be this difficult but we get so far and it just stops. the usb stick has not even been recognised by the computer. please can you help.
