Hi GerryPeters
Welcome to NETGEAR Community!
If the adapter detects the network then the adapter works fine. How do you connect to the network? Is it via NETGEAR Utility or Windows Utility? You can try to install the standalone driver.

Hi GerryPeters
Please check this WNDA3100v2 Product FAQs
"What operating system patch or service pack do I need to install in my XP machine to ensure my wireless function works without an error?"
This could be the reason why the adapter is not working properly.

I have XP service pack 3 and all that's required is service pack 2. I did get WNA1100 to work, but it loses the network too often and I was hoping the WNDA3100 would work better.
Did you see my message 4? I filled in a lot of details few you in hopes this would give you more to work with. Please review it. What's the difference between Standalone and Genie?
Let me know what to try next
thanks,
