500x lower speeds with EX6410 extender
The extender can't be this bad, but honestly I've tried everything in my power to get this extender to push out a reasonable signal. I understand it's about increasing range, but my internet speeds ...

D'ya know what, don't worry about it. I've had this chunk of solidified snake oil for 4 weeks now and it's actually legit made my home networking worse. The moment I have to start thinking about changing professional settings in my router config just to get near expected performance is the moment I send this back and honestly stay clear of everything and anything from Netgear in the future. This was my first ever Netgear product and I was staggered at how poor it was from the moment the flakey setup process started. I reconnected my old Asus router that I was using as a mesh node and that worked just fine, so I'll just go back to using that. I guess extending the wifi was a bit too much to ask of this wifi extender.

So after further messing about with disabling beamforming on the router, disabling smart connect, not sure which of those made a difference if any... when connected to the extender I'm now getting 300mbps connected to the 5G band but 1mbps when connected to the 2.4G band. I've tried forcing the router to a different channel but if I connect to the routers 2.4G band in the same room, I'm getting 50mbps.
I appreciate that networking is a difficult area but aren't there standards to prevent incompatibilities from occuring? And why isn't this extender able to self-diagnose blatant connectivity issues. It's infuriating.
