a strange problem with WN3000RP extender
I successfully setup NetGear WN3000RP extender at my home (using Method 2, i.e. no WPS) to extend the range of my D-Link wifi router. It works well for my phone and my tablet.
But its not working for my Akai SmartBox. The SmartBox detects the WiFi SSID of the WN3000RP extender (routername_EXT) with full signal strength, but alongside it shows a "blocking" symbol, one like the stop sign. After I do "Connect" and enter password, then it takes a long while (2-3 mins) obtaining an IP address. Finally, although the "blocking" symbol remains, it says "Connected" and I see the WiFi symbol at the top of the screen, but no app in the SmartBox gets any internet connection, for example, browser cannot even connect to "www.google.com".
Just to investigate I went to http://mywifiext.net, and saw the "Attached Devices" page. It shows the SmartBox mac id and the IP address in the list of wireless devices. But strangely the same SmartBox mac id also shows in the "Wired Devices".
This problem does not happen with my phone or my tablet which continue to work fine with the extender. This problem is seen only with my SmartBox.
When I made the SmartBox directly use my router's SSID, and then it works fine.
Note that I have not set mac id filters in the extender, nor in my router.

- try putting google DNS on AKAI side and see

I had tried this before, didn't work. Tried it again, didn't work. - ty using encryption WPA2 instead of WPS method
