A couple questions/comments.
1. What speed do you pay for ? both upload and download.
2. What router is it connecting to?
3. Brick is one of the best materials at blocking wifi.
4. ceilings can also be pretty good at it because many times there's hvac/etc within the ceilings that can obstruct transmission.
5. The very nature of extenders drops speeds 50%. The reason why is they have to receive and then retransmit. and they can't do both at once. so it cuts their speed in half. If you're upload speed (critical with zoom) was only a 5mbps connection, the extender max is going to be 2.5mbps or potentially worse depending on how good of a signal its getting.
A couple things you can try.
1. move the extender around. If there's hvac within the ceiling walls, sometimes a lateral move can help more than moving closer. try several different spots.
2. extenders should be centrally located. They need a good signal to work. if you put them in the same spot where you're going to be using wifi, their connection is going to be just as poor as a direct connection from your tablet would be.
3. Check your router. its the backbone of the system. if its performing poorly, so will the extender. try changing the wifi channel you're on in case there's interference.
4. again, brick is great at blocking wifi. if there's anywya to run a line to the extender, it'd function better.
