AC1200 Wifi Extender Can't Connect to Xfinity Gateway

I ended up ordering a new Wi-Fi extender, different brand and it was simple to connect and is working great. I can only assume something crapped out with the netgear. I didn’t want to go with the pods in case I ever change network providers. Luckily it worked at half the cost of the pods

Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) was really prominent years ago (not so much these days). Would you happen to have another device that can be set up using a WPS button?
(television? printer?)
I did try to just connect my printer but its old and have been having issues getting it connected wirelessly for a long time....even with the last gateway. so no, I have not been able to connect anything via WPS.
Is there another way to connect the extender directly to the router through an ethernet? I have tried a few ways but can't figure out how to get it to work. Any other ideas?
I feel like its like Apple, they are forcing me to go with their stuff for ease.
