AC1200 WiFi Range Extender(EX6150v2)

I just installed a new range extender.   Our wifi provider has a 2.4 ghz network and a 5.0 ghz network.  Now I also have a 2 and 5GEXT networks.

Do I need to manually connect to the strongest network whenever I am in a different part of the house on my iPhone or laptop?

Or is there a way for my iPhone and laptop to search automatically for the best network?

yes, you'd need to manually change. The EX6150 isn't a mesh extender. meaning you can set the ssid the same but devices would be "sticky" meaning they'd stay connected to 1 network until they lose signal.
With a mesh device, it uses the same ssid as your router and then lets the iphone roam using its roaming protocol that the extender and the phone use.
