AC1900 EX6410 mesh extender not connecting to internet
Purchased a couple of these extenders to add to my old D6400 wifi network which works fine but there are a couple of dead spots around the house.
Went through the setup procedure for each as instructed using the Nighthawk app on my phone. Took a while but got green lights all the way.
Went around to confirm coverage using a wifi signal meter app - all 90%, terriffic.
All done right? Wrong. Now I have no access to the Internet. So devices connect to the extenders. The extenders connect to the router. But no connection to the internet.
Turned off the extenders, internet service works fine.
What have I not done during the set-up?

How many extenders do you have?
Are you daisy chaining them?
daisy: router----->extender------>extender
or star.
Star: extender<--------router------->router
And you said you set them up with mesh. It isn't recommend to use more than 1 mesh extender at a time if you're using them in the mesh configuration. Reason why is they can end up connected to each other and not back to the main router. If you're wanting mesh and needing more than 1 extender, we recommend moving to an actual mesh system like Orbi or MK nighthawk. They have a router controlling the connections between router/satellites.
Also, did you set them up using wps or using the installation assistant?
If wps, factory reset them and install them using the assistant.
If you have to have that many extenders, only use one of them in mesh mode and put the others with a unique ssid. It keeps them from connecting to each other and looping.

Thanks for the info. The implication from Netgear is to use them to eliminate dead spots - the plural indicating multiple locations. I had planned to connect both extenders to the router to eliminate poor coverage in an upstairs area and a far flung room downstairs.
So I spent a jolly day attempting to get a single one to work properly. At the moment it seems that in order to make an internet connection via the extender I have to switch off wifi on the device & then switch on again at which point it will pick up the extender - not exactly the 'smart roaming' advertised.
I also had to rename my 5ghz network to the same as the 2.4ghz to enable the 'smart connect' feature. However on selecting the radio button for 'smart connect', it would then not allow me to select the 'one wifi name' feature. So not sure if either of those functions actually work. To be fair, I have never had to enter the wifi password, so something is working.
Have to confess to being rather disappointed with this product. Having spent a day of my life attemting to get what should be a plug & play system working I fear they will have to be returned.

1. what router are you connecting it to?
2. are you hardwiring in the extenders? Or wireless?
3. If you set them up using wps, factory reset them and try installing them using the installation assistant. After you get one setup, power it off and setup the 2nd device. Then power them both on.
4. They can cover multiple dead spots. Many times they different angle in coverage can reduce multiple spots and not just one
5. We're not netgear. But if you'd checked on here, we'd have recommended going with a different setup if you're needing more than 1 extender. Mainly because of what you're going through. They work great if you have 1 but more than that, and there's stability/speed issues.
