AC1900 Wifi Extender help
I have tried many, many factory resets, I have unplugged and plugged the extender, I have moved outlets, I have moved rooms with the extender and I cannot fix my issue.
If I plug in the extender and try a WPS set up, the power and WPS LEDs turn green, but the router and client do not.
If I plug in the extender and look for NETGEAR_EXT it does not show up on my laptop, nor my phone.
If I plug in the extender and try using the Nighthawk app, I get the same "Unable to join the network error." I have clicked and tried all of the solutions in "still having issues" section.
I cannot connect my laptop directly to the router, because it only has a USB-C port
I have been at this for over 2 hours at this point. Do I just have a bad extender or what am I missing?

It is always a good idea to set up the extender in the same room as the WiFi router. After it is working, it can then be moved to the desired location.
Please confirm the Factory Reset was done as described on page 63 of the user manual:

i.e. the Power LED flashed amber.
After the Factory Reset, when the extender is plugged in, a smartphone does not detect the WiFi name NETGEAR_EXT?

I have tried it in every outlet in the same room as my router. I have done the reset while it was plugged in until the power LED flashed and even held it for over 40 seconds based on other answers I found on this site before writing my question. Still no NETGEAR_EXT unfortunately.

What router are you connecting it to?
It wouldn't be the first time that a factory reset hasn't worked. But I still have to ask, are you pushing and holding reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on? I fequently see people just click the button.

I am trying to connect it to my Nighthawk XR500. I have rebooted this router through the app, unplugged it, plugged it back in and turned off the wifi with the manual button on the router and turned it back on. I have tried having the router connected locally and setting up the extender and having it set to anywhere access as well. Still no luck.
I am pushing the reset while it is plugged in for up to 40 seconds (saw someone wrote that cured their problem on this site). The power button flashes amber.

If the power LED flashes amber and there is no WiFi signal named NETGEAR_EXT, this extender appears to be dead. If purchased from an authorized reseller within the last year, it should be eligible for a warranty replacement. If purchased recently, I would return it to the retailer.
