AC1900 wifi mesh extender EX6400

so I just connected this I am not sure how I feel about it. On my iphone it use to suggest 2.4 GHZ or 5GHZ for my wifi to connect to. now it is only showing 5ghz 2.4 doesn't show as an option. and I ...

Are you running it in mesh mode? 

If so, it uses the same ssid for both and then can switch a device from 2.4ghz to 5ghz as needed.

I don't know if in mesh mode how can I tell?

    Log into it and check if its using the one ssid/mesh function. 

    you can get the manual by going to netgear.com/support/   type in the model number and it'll bring you to the manual, firmware.

      there are 2 2.4 and 5 ghz is that correct?

        If you want more than the default settings than it does take some adjusting to your personal preferences.
