Access pont works one location but not another

I don know the brand name - its something I picked up from tiger years ago called a "multi-network cable tester" and has bnc, 10 baseT, token ring, att258a, and eia/tia568. It hooks to each end of the cable and has led indicators for each pair. All pairs test good, but I believe it's only checking continuity and not noise
