You can set devices with reserved or static ip addresses so that doesn't happen.
Did you setup the extender using wps or using the installation assistant?

Thanks, plemans, for your quick response.
I did set up the EX6100v2 using the assistant.
Setting up with reserved or static IPs seems like a reasonable solution. I had not thought of that.
I suppose I should set up both the Arris cable modem/router and the EX6100v2 with the same reserved IP for each device, n'est pas?
I'll have to learn how to do that.
