Any recommendations for a GOOD WiFi Range Extender?
The AC1200 is plainly a piece o' crap and the support offered by NETGEAR is non-existent, so what would you recommend?

Many things influence wifi extenders. I've actually played with a EX6150v2 and it worked rather well for me. We can try figuring out your issue before moving on to replacement. Reason why I say that is that is because usually if one extender is having an issue, depending on issue, so will others. What issues are you having exactly?
What firmware is on it?
What router is it connected to? Not all routers (especially isp supplied devices) play nice with extenders.
How big is your home?
What are your interior walls made of? Some materials like plaster lathe, brick, concrete, metal studs, hvac, etc all do a great job of blocking wifi. If you've got these materials, most all extenders and routers will struggle.
Have you tried moving the extender around a bit. sometimes hvac in walls will block connections back to the router and simply moving laterally/closer/further away can help significantly.
Extenders by their very nature cut throughput in half and increase latency because they have to recieve and retransmit. This is negated a bit by switching to tri-band extenders as they reserve a band just for communication with the router. But standard extenders also have the option of fastlane which sets either the 2.4ghz or 5ghz band just for communication with the router and the other band for communication with devices. Have you tried this setup?
