ATTN Dexter please advise next steps
Dexter, Can you advise on flashing back to original specs and then latest suggested firmware for my extender. It's getting really flaky and have been wrestling with this for over 2 years now. One...

This default config I left alone "Enable One WiFi Name" and so see that my devices are in fact connected to the Extender. I just never used the 5GHz before because it definately wasn't faster than the 2.4GHz WiFi.
The extender isn't going to be faster than the modem/.router unless its at a distance. it still relies on the modem/router for its base speed.
Potentially the way it'd be faster would be hardwired in and running in AP mode.
What modem/router are you using?
The OneWiFiName feature does band steering. So it moves your devices between bands depending on bandwidth/distance from the extender.
5ghz is significanlty faster than 2.4ghz but it doesn't have the range or penetration ability. So eventually with distance/obstructions, the 2.4ghz will be faster at a certain point.
How large is your home?
What are your interior walls? certain materials block wifi to a very good extent.
Seems to be good now especially with the feature you've mentioned (OneWiFiName).
The modem is an Xfinity modem. And the house is just drywall pretty much everywhere (no concrete, etc). the space in my part of the property is around 1,100 sq ft.
I'm currently streaming an mkv file at high quality and there is no buffering or hiccups at this point, which is a good sign.
I'll monitor over the next few days and see if reboots are required to reconnect the Extender to Chromecast and other devices foremrly having problems.
