Can a Extender (EX8000 or EX7700 or a EX7500) be the MESH Master
Hello all,
today I use a LAN-connected R7800 to establish my WLAN.
An EX8000 is used for a WLAN Repeating. And I am using his LAN connectivity for my NAS and my TV.
EX8000 and R7800 loses their WLAN connection very often. It is not a stable cowork of these both products.
Now I think about purchasing another EX7700 instead of R7800.
My question: Can the EX7700 "start" my WLAN (WWW comes over LAN) and work as the Mesh-Master or do I have to get a "ROUTER"
Thanks
Holger
Hi Ratingen,
Welcome to the community!
1. To confirm, your assumed network topology is Modem > R7800 > EX8000, correct?
2. An EX7700 cannot replace the R7800 if the above is the setup since the R7800 is a router and the EX7700 is an extender.
3. Is the smart connect feature enabled on the R7800?
4. Is the One WiFI Name feature enabled on the EX8000?
5. What is the firmware version of the respective devices?
