What Firmware version is loaded on the EX?
What is the Mfr and model# of the main host router the NG extender is connected too?
What is the distance between the main host router and the EX unit?
Yes you can use the extender mode instead of AP mode to extend a main host routers wifi. Walk thru the setup wizard. Choose extender mode. Have it connect to the main host routers wifi.
- Tiger42Apr 05, 2019AspirantHi,
Thanks for your reply đ
Iâve updated it to latest firmware and Iâm trying to set it up off of my BT HH5 router. There will be approx 6mtrs of cable between the two .
Did not have much joy trying to set up using Ethernet as it would not share 5ghz signal - I tried setting the router to both combining 2.5 & 5 ghz signals and splitting them đ It just messed up the existing wifi so had to turn it off!

When using the same SSID, you need to ensure the channels between the main host router and EX are different and far appart. EX set to channel 1 and router set to channel 11 on 2.4ghz. Same far separation of channels on 5Ghz as well.
Try this, disable the wifi on the router and just run the EX in AP mode with wireless going. Does it work then?
