Can you connect an Access Point to the Ethernet port on an Extender (X7700)
Hey, I have two X7700 devices which work as either Extenders or Access Points. I want to create an Access Point by connecting it via ethernet to the output port of an existing extender. Like this....

It should work.
I've went RAX200---wireless--->EX8000-----lan--->WAX218
What router do you have?
What firmware is on the extenders? (each)
what modem/gateway is the router connected to?
Have you set the EX7700 thats in extender mode with a static/reserved IP address?
And tried the same with the extender in access point mode?

Ok nice, thanks for the reply plemans . I hadn't tried very hard to troubleshoot it yet, but now knowing that it should work, I'll continue on.
Here are the details:
Router/modem: Virgin Hub 3.0 (I currently don't have a dedicated Netgear router, I've just got my standard vigrin box which is acting as both a router and a modem. I've just read that I could enable modem mode and buy a dedicated Netgear router. I hope the lack of a Netgear router isn't the problem though.
Extender firmware: V1.0.0.226 (I'd updated the extender to this, but haven't updated the access point yet. I think it was still on the factory firmware. Something like V1.0.0.210)
>> Have you set the EX7700 thats in extender mode with a static/reserved IP address?
Nope, I've got it set to dynamic right now. (I can see the controls for this when I log into the Netgear router. I can give this a go if you think it might be a problem)
>>And tried the same with the extender in access point mode?
Nope. You mean try 'Router ----cable---> EX7700 ------cable----> EX7700' right? I can try this though. Thanks.
Thanks for the info, appreciate the response!

Seems like I'm always running into issues with people connecting to it on the forums.

Something like V1.0.0.210)----I haven't seen much for issues on the latest firmware so its worth trying. You can always downgrade if it make things worse.

Nope, I've got it set to dynamic right now. (I can see the controls for this when I log into the Netgear router. I can give this a go if you think it might be a problem)---dynamic should work but again, its a *should*. Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the virgin hubs.

Nope. You mean try 'Router ----cable---> EX7700 ------cable----> EX7700' right? I can try this though. Thanks.---hardwired is the best option if it doesn't cause issues. But if it does, you should be able to piggyback one off the other.
Thanks for the info, appreciate the response!
