The router and extender are both new. I’ve tried setting up the extender per the manual and the Netgear_ext does not show up in my available networks to connect to. I’ve also connected my extender to my router with Ethernet line with no success. When I tried using network map with the Nighthawk router app to manage the extender and my router password is not recognized when I try using the app.

If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that sits between this router and the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.- D823DNov 18, 2023AspirantIt is a modem only.

Did you try setting up the extender with wps? If so, it wont' show with a separate ssid as its a mesh extender.
It'll use the exact same.
And if you hardwired in the extender as your one post implies, you'd need to re-run setup in access point mode for it to work that way.
So did you try the click button wps method of setup?
- D823DNov 18, 2023AspirantNo I did not use the wps method. I’ve tried it in the past with other extenders with unreliable results.
