CANNOT SEE NETGEAR EXT2700 IN WIFI LIST

Hi, I followed the instructions for the setup, connected the extender to the router.  Went to the PC and selected the extender from the WIFI list, it asked for a password!  I typed in 'password' and it said it couldn't connect to the extender.  Since then, not matter what I do i.e. reset the extender and start again, clear the cache on the PC, I can't see the extender in my WIFI list!!!  Any ideas?

    During the setup of the EX2700 you can either choose the WPS method, or in a manual config select the same base router network name (with a _EXT postfix) and wireless preshared key, or define a dedicated name and wireless preshared key.

    Following a factory reset (press and hold the reset button for some seconds) the setup can be redone, the default network name and password is in place again.
