Cant connect my WN1000RP

HI,

I have a WN1000RP which previously worked with my old Virgin Media router.

I have tried to connect the new router via method 1 (the router has a wps button) with no joy.

I have tried factory reset and rebooting the router.

The wn1000 flashes, I press the wps button the router nothing happens but after a minute or so the WN1000 all three buttons flash but then just leaves the power light on.

I have tried option 2, I used Firefox (not safari) and go to mywifiext.ne (per manual) and it says not connected to your extenders network, however the NETGEAR_EXT does not appear on either my phone or my imac.
