Connected but no internet...

Hi. I'm at work right now so I don't have a lot of specifics with me at the moment, but perhaps someone can help me with my issue anyway. I'm not sure I'm in the right forum, either, but here goes:

I had Charter high-speed internet installed in my home today, then I went to Best Buy and bought a Net Gear router for about $43 (I forgot which model). After hooking everything up, it took awhile but after resetting the modem and router a few times, I was able to connect to the web page that would allow me to register my Net Gear router (I did this on my Droid Razr cell phone). Once I did this, I was able to connect to xbox live on my console AND get wifi on my phone. So far, so good...

However, when I went to access wifi on my old mini laptop (Acer), it failed to produce internet service. It said that I was connected to Net Gear and had a strong signal, but no internet. I tried several things but could not get it to work. I didn't see any way to enter the password for the router, either. Any ideas, anyone?

    Cable? ADSL?

There'll be some numbers on the bottom.
  • Charter is cable

Seems like all working instead of one wifi so I would say you may need to adjust the wireless mode and encryption or even disable WMM

I would try disable WMM first

    Download the manual from support.netgear.com
  • IF you have other wireless connected devices that have internet access, focus on the single affected Acer - make sure it is configured for automatic addressing, make sure it gets an ip address from the router, troubleshoot the problem before making changes willy nilly.
