Thanks I'll try that. I was reluctant to turn the working extender off as I didn't want to mess up the extender that is working.

I did the initial set up by the router then took it to the room I needed it in .

Did you try doing the initial setup in the same room?

Also, during setup, shut off the other extender so the one being setup only sees the router's wifi.
