Connecting access point to EX7000 extender
Hello,
I'm running an EX7000 as a wireless extender (due to placement of my router in the basement). I have one area of my house that doesn't get a wifi signal with the EX7000, and by chance there is already an ethernet cable running from where the EX7000 is to that room.
I'm trying to use an older access point I had sitting around (TP-LINK TL-WA801ND) to connect to the EX7000, but it is not getting an internet connection. Any suggestions? Is it more likely that the issue is in the DHCP settings of the EX7000, or in the original router (from Verizon)?

Try connecting a pc/laptop directly to the extender and seeing if it gets connection.
If that works, then try the ethernet run to where the other extender is. Try it there.
If that works, then check the tp-link extender to ensure its in access point mode.
plemans Thanks so much for your feedback. Unfortunately, I don't have any PCs/Laptops that have an ethernet port, so I can't exactly test as you described. Also, the TP-Link only has one ethernet port, which is obviously being used for the incoming signal. I do have a reasonable degree of confidence that the signal coming into the TP-Link is OK, because I previously had a printer networked through this ethernet line which was working fine. I guess this doesn't fully answer the question of whether it is communicating with the internet, but at least it was receiving an IP address. I'm certain that the TP-link is set up as an AP.
plemans I guess I'm wondering if it is even feasible from a theoretical standpoint to daisychain the TP-link off of the EX7000 running as an extender. Is it possible for the DHCP server on the router to manage this? I contacted TP-LINK tech support and they said it's not possible, but they were also trying to sell me an expensive mesh system.
