Yes, you can connect your Marantz to the extender with Ethernet. If you have other Wi-Fi devices that you also want to use, then the extender could be a good choice.
OTOH, if your sole purpose is to connect your Marantz to the network, then you can also consider a media bridge. Netgear calls them Gaming & Home Theater Adapters.
If you have a coax line near your Marantaz and your modem, then you can also consider MoCA adapters. Actiontec is the main player in the MoCA arena.
Finally, there's Powerline.
