Connection problem and solution for mirroring pc screen to LG tv
This router/mesh system is great, but I ran into a frustrating and time consuming problem recently when I tried to mirror my PC screen (running most current issue of Win 10) to my LG smart TV. So the purpose of this post is to briefly describe the issue and the solution.
ISSUE:
When trying to connect my Dell laptop running win 10 to my LG smart TV, the PC properly recognized the presence of the TV, but when I tried to mirror my PC screen to the TV, during the connection process and ERROR MESSAGE popped up that prevented the connection.
This ERROR MESSAGE presented by MS on my computer screen was: "Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics Hardware", so I thought this must be a firewall problem in the MS operating system. After summoning MS help and trying their suggestions, I dug further and explored the ORBI app on my smart phone, which had also presented a message, a SECURITY ALERT. That message was the key to finding the solution. The ORBI security alert was: "http://www.windowsfreeapk.com/apk-for-pc/LG-TV-Plus.png".
SOLUTION:
On my smart phone, the history of BLOCKED connections showed the quoted text immediately above, and labelled it as MALWARE. I set the ORBI firewall to UNBLOCK that warning. That fixed the problem.
I suppose it's best to have these firewalls err on the side of preventing a risk to your PC, but this was a false-alarm. I do not know how to alert NetGear or the ORBI security folks to this false-alarm, but at least others who read this may find this to help them solve their screen mirror issue.
