actual model numbers help.
but if ones a combo device, you need to go combo device------router (in ap mode)
best bet is to hardwire them together.

you're doing it with a hardwired connection?
if so, setup the first router as you normally would and then set the 2nd router up in access point mode.

ok awesome ideally i would to seperate them and connect by wifi to extend range

then you'd want an actual range extender and not 2 routers. get the one router and a triband extender that does mesh and you'll be better suited than buying 2x routers.
you'd be better off to look at mesh systems as they're more easily expandable and usually cheaper than buying a router and a range extender. especially since amazon has been running refurb/renewed specials lately.
