Decreased internet speed

We installed a ex3700 wifi extender. The coverage has increased which is great, but internet speed is 20% slower than directly off our modem. Any ideas ?
  • That's actually pretty good! to only loose 20%, its should be a  50% throughput reduction if its setup in standard extender mode. Fastlane helps reduce that but you still see a drop in speed.

    here's why

extenders have to receive and re-transmit using the same wireless chip. It can't do both at once. So it cuts speeds in half and increases latency. They're great for extending the range at which you need to reach but at the cost of peak speeds.

The tri-bands do even better at mitigating the speed hit because they reserve 1 radion just for router----extender communication. it still takes a speed hit but not nearly as mcuh.
