DGN3500 and DG834GT connection issues

Hi all,

I've spent the last few days trying to sort this problem as well as searching numerous threads on this site and I nearly have everything working, but I need some ideas on the last stage of this.

First a little explanation of what I'm trying to achieve:
In my home network I have a Netgear DGN3500 router connected to ADSL serving internet throughout the house. It serves wireless to 2no laptops and an Xbox360 as well as being wired to my NAS tower, main MAC and HTPC. This all works flawlessly.

Recently I got a new TV/PS3 (both of which require internet) in a separate part of the house where I can't run a cable. So, after much trial and error, I have managed to set up my old Netgear DG834GT next to the TV/PS3 as sort of a wireless repeater by entering its MAC address into the 3500s advanced wireless section. It connects to the 3500 and the internet is now shared to it and I have the TV and PS3 connected to the 834GT wired. Everything is working apart from ONE FINAL ITEM.

The Problem:
I operate a DLNA server (PS3 media server). The Xbox picks it up fine wirelessly through the 3500. However the PS3 and the new Sony TV do not pick it up on the network; they also do not pick up the WMP DLNA on the laptops as I tried to them to check. I have disabled the firewall on the 834GT as well as DHCP (everything is static), but still nothing. I'm not hugely familiar with opening ports and so forth, so I may be missing something simple hopefully; but I've tried everything I can think of.

It seems like the service is being blocked or something straight forward like that. If anyone has any ideas on some solutions or approaches to try and fix it I would be most appreciative.

Details:
3500 Connections (static)
DGN3500: 192.168.0.1
Main PC: 192.168.0.2
HTPC: 192.168.0.4
NAS: 192.168.0.5

834GT Connections (static)
DG834GT: 192.168.0.101
Sony TV: 192.168.0.102
PS3: 192.168.0.103

The xbox and the wireless laptops get assigned by DHCP from the 3500.

Thanks a lot for any help; apologies for the length of the post as I figured the more information I can give, the more likely the answers are to be relevant :)

Cheers.

  • there is NO port needs top be open on DG (remote end), it will do nothing.

if both are communicating, wirelessly connected using WEP then all should be good other than low security and poor performance in repeating.

Seems some devices is working behind the DG, assume ... so that is the case then looks like setup right.

fact that DLNA issue may comes from when you repeating. WN2000RPT, WN3000RP, WNCE2001 are the extender which can use WPA2 to keep the security up and should have better results
