Is your question about dual band routers or dual band extenders - and you might want to look at the subject of your thread before responding to that question.
Like June has said, all a dual band router will do is allow you a choice of bands, nothing more.
On the other hand, dual band extenders, IF (not all do) they allow one band to be used for backhaul and the other for client connections, will allow use with the 50% degradation normally associated with extenders.
