I just had the same problem with Alex. He went through my computer, told me I had an unsecured Network and depending on my age what it will cost to fix the problem. He was rude and said I had to tell him I am sorry 10 times or he would not release my computer. I disconnected with him. What the hell kind of service are you people providing? I will never own or use another Netgear product in my lifetime and will be telling my experience with your compl, any on Social media.

I feel your frustration but wait, it gets worse... good luck finding anyone who cares or can do anything about it

tillford If you didn't actually contact netgear support, there isn't anything to be done about it.
None of your information matched up to what netgear charges for support and there a bunch of scam/con sites that people get directed to if they google support.
If you paid for support and they were sketchy, dispute the charge with your CC.

Thanks for confirming my responce to hbbaldwin. We both followed support links in the literature provided by netgear... why would netgear allow this type of support?

For a longer explanation I was trying to reinstall the wifi extender EX 2700 after not having used it in a while. I found the url listed on the back of the product. I went to that url on my computer. A drop menu with a live chat session came on screen. The person's name was Patricia. I told Praticia that I was looking for some assitance in installing the EX2700. She asked for a phone number where the technician could call me. I gave her my cell phone number and she said stay on the computer with her until he calls. She said his name was Alex. In a minute or less "Alex" called and told me to close all open applications on my computer and to go to a web site and download logmeinrescue. I did and activated it. He sent me a code and I entered it and we were now connected, he took control of the computer. He was searching the computer and said he found my network was unsecure and found several sources accessing the information on my computer. The screen he was showing me was a list of devices on the network, all were mine. I told him they were mine and he kept talking about deciding what tech service I was needing to figure out the cost. He asked my age as there was a senior discount. I said I was 72. I then realized something wasn't right and was attempting to take back control of the computer and I was closing open windows. He said I was acting as a 2 year old child and nothing I could do would stop him. He said he was in control of my computer. Then he said I MUST tell him 10 times I am sorry. I won't repeat what I told him. I finally found the icon for the connection and disconnected him from the computer. He was stil on the phone with me and continued to berate an insult me. At this point he said he has access to my computer and when he is ready he will make sure I could never use the computer again. I hung up. Now I believe this was in fact Netgear Tech support. The ONLY way it was not is if some hacker hacked Netgear. I tried for over an hour to call someone at Netgear and they never provided a customer service contact number. I called a couple of numbers I found but was put into the auto response systems. Because of this experience and the total lack of concern from Netgear I will NEVER buy another product from them and have alrady expressed my th
