Thanks for the reply. I've been doing this for 3 days and am at the end of my rope. After I setup the ex3700 from page 10, at what point do i unplug the ext, take it out of my router area, take it to my roku, and plug the roku into the ext via ethernet?
Thanks.

You don't have to setup the extender via ethernet. You can do it over wifi. Unless you're planning on using it as a wired access point. Is your goal is this:
Router-->wifi-->EX3700-->wired connection-->roku
If so you can just go through the initial setup with the EX3700 over wifi. Once its setup, just plug in the roku, redo the roku's network settings from within the roku, and you should be good to go.
Here's a video of someone setting it up via the wps button. Starts about the 3 minute mark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUC_1J5c0Xc
Once you have it setup, see how its working and if it's doing what you expect. If you're unable to go through the wps setup (easiest) follow the manual or easy setup guide. Its here:
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX3700/EX3700_EN_QSG_04_10Mar2015.pdf
There's many settings that you can change from channel selection to fastlane to optimize speed and latency. Read a bit through to manual to find what works best for you.

Thanks for the replies.
The video covers the basics. I get that. I'll be very clear about what I'm trying to do:
My computer and router are in room A. My roku is in room C. I want to plug the ex3700 into an outlet behind my roku/tv, connect the roku to the 3700 via ethernet. I don't care if it's extender mode or access point mode, I just want a stable, wired connection.
I've tried this many times over the past 3 days and always get errors. Things like "roku can't connect, check your router, etc." The only positive results I get are when I go wireless. But I'm after a wired connection.
I've been setting up the 3700 to the wifi network using my router hardwired into my computer, which also sees wifi networks. Is this wrong? right now my hardwired computer is connected to the 3700 ext network; the same network my roku is connected to. Am I able to connect my computer to my router's network without screwing up the roku's ext connection?
I'm clearly having a logical problem with the instructions. For example: on page 15, #3: " Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port on the extender to a router Ethernet LAN port or a remote Ethernet LAN jack with LAN access." I assume this means I'm connecting the 3700 to my router via ethernet. If so, at what point in this process do I unplug the power and ethernet from 3700 and move it to the roku room and plug the 3700 into power and connect it to roku via ethernet? I have no idea when or how to do this based on the instructions.
And at the top of page 14: "Connect an Ethernet-Enabled Device". Does this apply to extender mode or access point mode or both? Since it comes before the access point mode instructions I assume it's only for extender mode? Is this right? I have no idea.
I'm looking for detailed, step by step instructions which I can't seem to find.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

So you're wanting extender mode.
this:
is the basic installation guide. Its as simple as it gets. Follow the video to try to set it up with wps. If it suceeds, its setup in extender mode. Here's what you need to do.
1. setup the extender. Follow the guide. Start fresh though. What I mean is reset it to defaults. Hold the reset pin for 10 seconds. After this, when you're setting it up, don't hardwire in. Just use the video or installation guide and get it setup as a wireless extender. Make sure the name is something different from your router. It should automatically use your routers name with some form of ext at the end.
2. Once you have it setup as an extender. Place it your room with the Roku and plug it in to the wall. Once it's booted what is your router link light doing? (top left) If its green, you have a good connection to your router.
3.Plug your roku into the extender via ethernet
4. Go into your roku settings and run "setup new connection". Select the wired route. It should auto connect.
