EX2700 seems to have caused issues with my wifi

Not any more :( Intermittently at best, and even then it’s very very slow

If the extender is unplugged and you're still having issues, the extender isn't the issue. The router is. 

Mabye try factory resetting the router and re-install it. 

What router is it?

    I think it must be. I’ve tried reboot and factory reset and it’s no better. It’s a Sky Q Hub - model ER115.

      The sky router might have joined its friends in the great graveyard in the "sky". 

      If its rented from your isp, they should be responsible for replacing it.
