so you were able to set it up using the installation assistant if ran in the same room?
When you set it up using the cable, was it cabled to the router? If so, that sets it up in access point mode. If you meant you set it up with the cable to a computer, thats different.
How far did you move the extender from the router?
What are the interior walls in your home made of?
What are the led's on the extender showing when you moved it? (all of them, blinking/solid/color)
Firmware on the extender?

Thanks for your message.
The cable was between my main router (ASUS) and the Wifi extender ; the extender was not set up as an access point but well as an extender.
I did it again and it worked very well during 1 hour, and then no internet available ????
The distance between the router and the extender is 5 meters, my house is made of wood, neightbours are far.

When the extender is hardwired to the router it should be setup in access point mode.
when wireless is when you use extender mode.
Are you setting up using wps or the installation assistant?
What firmware is on the extender?
What router are you connecting to?

Firmware is the last one, I did the update.
I did the setup using the WPS, and I also tried using the assistant: each time, the extender find the wifi and create the new wifi's, I can connect to them but there is no internet.
My main router is an ASUS RT-AC88U.

A number is more helpful than "the latest". Because the latest changes, isn't, or isn't helpful if people in the future are reading this.
What modem is the Asus connected to?
Have you tried setting a static address for the extender in the asus?
Or factory reset both the asus and extender and then do the setup?
