After the Factory Reset I was able to complete the Registration Form using Opera Browser. It disconnected twice while entering the "Search for Wireless Networks" page, but leaving the web page open and reconnecting to NETGEAR_EXT access point did work out and I was able to finish the setup.

As soon it got online it told me again a new firmware update was ready (the last firmware update got me into this problem), I took the time to annotate my current firmware version and what the new version features:

Firmware Version: V1.0.0.24_1.0.14

...Error on registration setup form.

New Version V1.0.0.28_1.0.16
1. (1) Fixed security issues.
2. (2) Add new registration flow.

I updated the firmware, I will wait for tomorrow when the extended network users will tell me if everything is back to normal.

Is the FW up to date?

What browser are you using to walk thru the setup? Try IE11, FF or Opera.

What is the mfr and model# of the host router?

Yes, the problem started after the last FW update.

Opera and Chrome.

Netgear Nighthawk R8000 AC3200 with updated firmware.

    Let us know. Might try a factory reset and clear out all browser caches, exit the browser and try.
