EX6150v2 has foreign firmware, should get original firmware
The extender was in use for Freifunk, where there completly different firmware is in use. I would like to restore the unit to the original firmware, otherwise it's waste. I have nothing that tells me...

Have you simply tried changing the region?

Thanks for your reply.
There is no REGION to set up in the current firmware, since it is for a creating a VPN-Network to get arronud rules of the german coverment. The task now is how to get the NETGEAR-firmware onto the unit.

VPN's typically don't go on extenders. They go on the router or on the pc being used.
not sure exactly what you're attempting or trying to do because your descriptions are pretty vague.
Also, the extenders do have regions. its under setup--->wireless setup---->region selection

I have to apolosize for my bad English and steering you in a wrong direction.
Let me tell you the important facts:
The currently loaded firmware is from an organisation called Freifunk and is not from Netgear.
I like to get rid of it and restore the unit to the original Firmware from Netgear, which I found in the support section.
What's missing: A description how to do it, what setup is needed.

Its like thats based on a version of openwrt.
You can check the openwrt forums about how best to remove their firmware without bricking the device. Unfortunately you're not going to find it on the official forums. And there's still the chances of bricking it. Its the problem with 3rd party firmware.
