I have had the extender working quite well for a few years without any problem. After the NBN installation, then it stopped working. So I attempted to reset the extender to connect with the new Wifi ...

it wouldn't be the first time the WPS didn't work between manufacturers. I'd skip that.
Factory reset your extender and follow the setup wizard for the extender. This tends to have better results between manufacturers. I also prefer to do the setup hardwired into the extender as well for best results.
What firmware is on your extender?
Here's where you can get the install instructions for using the setup wizard. There's written instructions as well as a video on the support site here.

How do I find out the firmware on my extender and update it?
The problem is my extender is already known as mynetwork_2GEXT or mynetwork_5GEXT from my previous setup with another modem and when I select them, I get No Internet Connection. How do I reset the extender so I can actually see the extender as NETGEAR_EXT and follow the instructions provided by Netgear and follow the video. At present the instructions from Netgear and the video are not much help.
Thanks.

to reset the extender follow this procedure.
Turn on the extender and let it fully boot.
Once its booted, push and hold the reset button. It should only take 7-10 seconds but some have taken up to 30 seconds. You'll know you've held it long enough when the light on the extender change

I have followed your instructions to reset the extender, and then followed the Netgear instructions to setup with the Netgear genie. The setup went through as per the instructions with no problem and the extender networks mynetwork_2GEXT and mynetwork_5GEXT were set up. On the extender, the 2.4 GHZ indicator shows steady green, the device to Extender LCD also shows steady green. But when I select mynetwork_2GEXT or mynetwork_5GEXT, I still get No Internet Connection. The message on my iPhone says "if this is your Wi-Fi network, try restarting the modem and the router or contact your ISP". Is it an issue between Optus/NBN network and the extender? Should I contact Optus to get this problem resolved? Thanks.
