EX7000 AccessPoint extended by EX8000 wifi range extender - 5ghz not connecting anymore
I have an EX7000 connected to my router acting as an access point:
Hardware Version EX7000
Firmware Version V1.0.1.84_1.0.148
I'm extending this with an Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band Mesh Extender:
Hardware Version: EX8000
Firmware Version: V1.0.1.206
After upgrading the firmware on both devices, the EX8000 no longer connects to the 5GHz network:
Connection to Existing Network (5GHz)
- Signal Strength: 0Mbps
- Name (SSID): Volden
- Connection Status: Disconnected
I've tried to change between many of the 5GHz channels in the access point.
I've tried to factory reset the extender (EX8000).
I've moved the extender (EX8000) between the 3 floors.
Wifi analyzer app reports the signal as good in all locations.
Can anyone nudge me in the right direction to resolve this? Are there any log files available somewhere?
For some reason the 2.4Ghz wifi with the same SID on my ISP router had been renabled. I suspect my problem was that the extender connected to this wifi instead of the intended one, and probably figured out that there's no 5GHz wifi on the same router.
After disabling it again the extender connected to 5GHz again. Hope no one else experiences the same stupid mistake, but I'm putting my experience out here just in case :)
