I have currently set up the Nighthawk closer to the Router half way down the hall. I am then using a TP link attacthed to the Nighthawk and my PC and now Im getting 20 Down - 40 Up. Still not an ideal nor a practical and certainly not any better than before I bought the Nighthawk.

is that over 2.4ghz or 5gh?

So currently the set up is:
Vodafone Router > Nighthawk Extender > Ethernet to TP Link > TP Link to Ethernet > PC
Obviously alot of faff going on there, my house isnt all that big either.
My understanding is that once its running through Ethernet then the GHz isnt relevant? Am I misunderstanding? My PC can only be connected via Ethernet.

the extender still has to connect to the router.
If the router is only a 2.4ghz, thats what the extender is going to use.
And 2.4ghz is slow. very slow. the 20-40mbps is about what you can expect from 2.4ghz.
What vodafone router is it?

Its a SIRO connection so it should be pretty good. Im fairly certain it has 5GHz capabilities. In fact it definitely does. Like I said the Signal Strength shows up green on both Bands and I have received 5GHz signal on my laptop which went up to speeds of over 400mbps
