If there's a proxy, you don't need an extender. You need a router/extender that supports wisp mode. standard extenders like the ex7000 doesn't.
Most routers don't even have a wisp mode. A lot of travel routers support a wisp mode.

I got the extender because the wifi signal is weak where I live. So how do I solve that and the proxy issue?
What device would you recommend then?

Again, you need a device that supports wisp mode.
standard extenders done.
So look for either a router that supports wisp mode or a lot of travel routers do.
The only one from netgear that supports it is super old and not worth the $.
