EX7000 using as Access Point with R7000

Currently using R7000 with latest firmware with Smart Connect (only one SSID for both 2.4 and 5Ghz, I do not use the guest network), have some dead spots so thinking of buying Netgear EX7000 and using it in access point mode since I have CAT5e wiring throughtout the house, I was hoping someone would help me with following questions since I do not want multiple SSIDs:

1. Does EX7000 support Smart Connect?

2. Will the other LAN ports on the EX7000 work in AP mode?

3. I understand I will need to set the R7000 and EX7000 radios to different channels to use the same SSID? Is this correct?

My goal is to extend wifi coverage using the same SSID throughout the house? Is this possible with R7000 and EX7000 combination or should I just upgrade to Netgear Orbi?

Any and all advice appreciated, thanks to all.

    Hello NightHawkFan

It is not recommended to set the SSID the same as the router because it will not automatically change to the best signal when moving around you have to do that on your own. and yes the ports work in ap mode.
