You'd need to check with xfinity to see how to check their wireless speed settings for 5ghz. I could tell you with a netgear but not the xb8

I only connect using the 2.4 ghz band to the EX7000. The bands are split on the XB8 router

2.4ghz is a slow band that is sensitive to interference because so many things broadcast on it. using only that for a backhaul will cause slow downs/drops.
Are you using fastlane or why did you set it up with the 2.4ghz only?
- BooYahDec 14, 2024TutorMy video cameras only work on 2.4ghz. I never had a problem with this configuration until recently.
Will the EX7000 accept a merged WIFI 6 signal and split out a 2.4ghz band? - plemansDec 14, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Just set it up in the default mode.
Or if you're using fastlane, you can set the 5ghz to be the connection between router/extender.
- BooYahDec 14, 2024TutorJust so I understand. The EX7000 will extend the three band XB8 WiFi 6 signal and the EX7000 can be split the incoming three band signal into a separate 2.4ghz. Is this a correct understanding?

The EX7000 isn't triband (or 6ghz at all).
So it won't pickup the XB8's 6ghz band.
It will pickup the 2.4ghz/5ghz and rebroadcast those just fine.
- BooYahDec 16, 2024TutorIf the signal is sent as a combined single band can the EX7000 split and retransmit the 2.4ghz and 5ghz into separate bands with unique and nameable SSIDs

yes it can. Just use the installation assistant for setup and not wps.
- BooYahDec 16, 2024TutorWhat is the URL (location) for the installation assistant?

here's a video of using it.
