So I understand why I can't use channel 153 for a front-haul channel, but why aren't any of the other upper-register 5GHz channels available for the fronthaul?
because its a hardware difference. The radios either work for the upper 5ghz channels or the lower ones because of channel overlap.
So if you're using the upper channels for the backhaul, you have to use the lower for the fronthaul.
