2 things you can try.
1. downgrade the firmware a version on the extender. I've seen a few reports of issues on the .222 firmware
2. try installing the extender using the installation assistant and NOT wps. I've seen ISP supplied routers have sketchy WPS setups that cause issues.

How can I downgrade the firmware? I can't find an option to revert to a previous version.

You download it from the support site.
on that site you go to downloads--->+view previous versions.
download the one you want, then extract it.
then follow the manual firmware process but use the older firmware versus the newer.

Right, thanks for that. We have reverted to the older firmware, but still continue to have problems. I have disconnected all the Synology cables, but this morning none of the tech in my husband's office was working and we had to disconnect the extender to get a network connection. Not sure what is happening, so I will try disconnecting and turning off everything and reinstalling it all.
