So hardwire into the extender with a computer. go to mywifiext.net. log into the extender. From there you can change the ssid. Here's an acticle from your support site.
and here's the support site with manuals, firmware, troubleshooting, FAQ for the EX8000

I have a macbook Pro so unable to connect directly with Ethernet if thats what you were suggesting - I know I can purchase an adapter but im looking for something quick & I wanted to utliise the mesh system that the EX8000 has which was the whole point of purchasing it.
I cant see why I cant just daisy chain it if there was a guide on how to do so?- plemansSep 14, 2019Guru - Experienced User
You're other option is to login to your router, find out the ip address of the extender from the attached devices page, and use that address to login to the gui.
I'd have to agree it is the whole point of mesh. But there's a difference from a true mesh system like Orbi and adding a single extender like the EX8000.The problem that you're having is because you're trying to daisy chain using the one ssid function with extenders. Daisy chaining with the ex8000 would require that the futhest away extender only be able to pick up the extended signal and not the signal from the router. To get to the point of a true mesh system and not just adding extenders would be a system like orbi that is designed to handle it.
You can search the forums. There have been ex8000's daisy chained but it requires certain requirements. Its not set and forget like a full mesh setup.
