EX8000 mesh extender not boosting 5G
EX8000 firmware 1.0.1.240 My router outputs 2.4G & 5G. EX8000 2.4G & 5G lights are on. 2.4G booster is working fine. 5G is not. Router setup is fixed channel 48. Nighthawk shows channel 104 (DFS). I...

The photos are far from good but serve their purpose. Red peak shows 5G output from router (channel numbers hidden by advert). The star photo is far from pointless. It shows the 5G router output (ch48) & also demonstrates that there is no 5G boost signal on any of the 5G channels. Installing inssider would be a waste of time as my PC is hard wired, no Wi-Fi so not helpful.
The lack of 5G boost is likely to be either a setting not correctly made (no-one has come up with a likely culprit) or a faulty Netgear extender which means an expensive replacement..

To get better pictures to post in forums from phones or pads, use the screen capture feature on these devices to capture photos directly of any particular app for best clarity and viewability.
Avoid using a external camera to take a photo then posting it.
As mentioned, when in AP mode, Avoid using same channels as main host wifi. Channels need to be far apart across the board between the the two units.
If you are using Extender mode, then yes, the EX should be using same channels as host wifi signal it's connected too.
If you don't think your EX is working after all troubleshooting has been exhausted, then make contact with NG support for additional help and information. Ask about an RMA.
