Sorry, I read all that you alluded to and I watched the video. I am totally lost.
1) when I try to join the _2GEXT I am told there is a security problem and my computer will not allow me into the WiFi
2) when I join the _5GEXT and enter the address specified which looks something like "my wifi ext net". Then I receive a the screen that says "Not connected to extender". Then I enter the next instruction in the information you sent
"http // my wifi ext"( as the instuctions indicate for Windows) and I receive a page that says, "This Site Cannot Be Reached".
3) again like yesterday I begin to chase my tail running around in circles - I am not a moron, why is this so difficult?
I am prepared to return this extender. For goodness sake, they charge nealy $100.00 for a device that will not pass muster in the security features. Will not connect on one of the two bands. They suggest that you update firmware, the instructions take you into circles, nothing works.
Note: I update firmware on my printer, graphics card, and other components - I am no stranger to firmware. This is simply unacceptable.
I appreciate your attempt to help but it did not work. No doubt it is me that is the block head.
Sincerely,

the EX6120 has an ethernet connection. Simply connect a pc/laptop to it. (disable the wireless on the device you connect to it to prevent that device from defaulting back to the wireless connection)
Then try following the guide

Plemans,
Thank you for your patience with me.
Your suggestion has me confused.
I have a desktop with windows 10 and a couple of devices IOS phone and ipad, couple of music devices.
I have not tried to do anything with my ipad nor iphone.
I have only one ethernet port on the computer. I utilize that port to connect to the Comcast Router/Modem/WiFi.
You suggest that I run ethernet from my desktop to the extender and shut off the wifi. Again, I have only one ethernet port,
if I pull the line to router and shut off the wifi - I do not care how good a connection I have between the extender and the PC; everthing will end right then and there, Right?.
Can I run the ethernet between the extender and one of the ethernet ports on the Comcast unit whilst turning off WiFi at the desktop? will that do what you suggest?
Then you state, that I should follow the "guide". I am sorry but i seem to have so many prior instructions running around my head that I do not know what guide you are alluding to.
I have given consideration to skipping the Extender and just using this as an access point. Which is what I seem to think you are suggesting to me with regard to an end run around the problems that I have been incurring. Should I in your opinion hard wire this via ethernet cable and utilize the Access Point concept. If so, are there suggestions you would offer?

But you're doing this for setting up the extender. By hardwiring a pc/laptop into the extender and then using the installation wizard, setup tends to go smoother, easier. Once the extender is setup, just disconnect the pc/laptop from it and turn its wifi back on or reconnect it to the router.
Can I run the ethernet between the extender and one of the ethernet ports on the Comcast unit whilst turning off WiFi at the desktop? will that do what you suggest?---not really. its more comlicated than that.

Theres install guides for using wps and using the installation assistant. There's even video's for both. I'd recommend using the installation assistant.

It'll actually perform faster in access point mode than it does in extender mode becuase its hardwired in in access point mode. Single/dual band extenders actually lose 50% speed running in extender mode because they have to communicate router---extender and then extender----device and they can't do both at once. so if you have the possibliity of hardwiring it in and running it in extender mode, thats a good option.

Plemons,
Thanks again for your time.
I am too busy to give much time to this extenderr as I am an accountant and it is a new month, thus I have to close the books of numerous entities that I do work for. I doubt I will get back to extenders for a few days.
Just a breif read of your responses has me more confused that ever.
My computer is telling me that the extender's security two generation back in time. I do not know what to do to correct that but I have asked for help from Net Gear Support on three occasions. But, I have not even had a courtsey response from anyone. Where ius all this promised 90 day super start up support?
One week I have been trying to install and update this extender. This is nuts. Every time i connect either I am told connection failed because of Security failure or I am told that the security is outdated. I am ready to return it to the vendor, and call it quits.
This thing has taken too much of my time, it does not work, you have been most kind but nothing you have suggested has worked for me, Net Gear appears to not care.
You have more experience than I but I feel this should be like a plug and play rather it has been hours of nothing working, reading knowledge base information that I do not understand and assorted frustration.
Thanks again for your input.
Sincerely,
Doug
