Extender issues after firmware upgrade
I have read a few post regarding issues with this ex7000 wifi extender and wish to share my experience. After purchasing, I set it up and all went well, good speeds and no issues. 1.0.0.62 was pre-installed and working fine. I upgraded to 1.0.0.66 soon after and didn't really take much notice of how my network was running but did notice a quality reduction and thought it was just my ISP. I since upgraded to 1.0.1.78 and immediately noticed issues with slow speeds, devices being kicked off the network etc. I also noticed that after a couple days, my PC which was connected to the extender, had reduced download speeds from 50mbps back to 5mbps but my upload speed stayed about normal. After reading some posts, I downgraded the firmware to 1.0.0.66 and tested it for a few weeks. The same thing happened to my download speed but everything else was stable. Today I downgraded to 1.0.0.62 and I think this has fixed all my issues. I am now getting the fastest wifi speeds (down and up) I have ever had through this device.
Anyone else who is having similar issues, I recommend doing the same. Thankfully this device doesnt automatically install new firmware so I will remain on 1.0.0.62 until a fixed firmware is released, that is, if there is ever a fix.
I'll have to say that this will be the last Netgear device I purchase because the support is poor and firmware should never be released without major testing.

Yes, I have had similar issues with firmware version 1.0.1.78.
- The main one is that extended wifi on the 2.4 GHZ drops out (ie. with wifi signal can't be found on my phone, laptop or any other device) every day and have to power on/ off the device.
- I have reverted to firmware version 1.0.1.66 - and will test that over the next few days
Netgear only provide 30 days "technical" support after that it is a simple RMA - which wont fix a firmware issue.
I agree with the post below as well: I will never by another Netgear product again as the support is inadequate and quality of software very poor.
I hope Netgear reads these posts and actuallt pays attention to their loss of sales due to these two issues.
